Conference topics and submissions

Professionals and scholars are invited to participate as attendees or speakers of the Conference. Speakers need to submit an abstract. We invite to submit abstracts devoted to the following topics:     

1. Geographies of quality of life, deprivation, and inequalities
2. Global environmental change, biodiversity, and cultural diversity
3. Geopolitics of South-South exchanges and South-North disparities 
4. Geography of (in)mobilities in the globalized world.  
5. Geographical thinking in/from the Global South and alternative paradigms
6. Decolonization geography and politics of knowledge production 
7. Gender and feminist geographies
8. Data-driven geographies, geospatial analysis, and artificial intelligence
9. Urbanization, (smart) cities, and urban-rural complex systems
10. Geographies of resources extractions in the South     

These topics will define the Sessions of the Conference. However, IGU Commissions (or additional independent Organizations) are invited to self-organize up to two Sessions for any sub-theme related to the specified Conference topics. Commissions/Organizations need to submit the abstracts of their Session’s proposals, including the names of their speakers. 

Abstracts of individual speakers will be evaluated by the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee will evaluate the abstracts of individual speakers and may propose submitting the best abstracts/presentations as full papers to books/journals to be defined.

*Submissions may have more than one author (we suggest max. 3 authors). However, only one person should submit the abstract. If accepted, only one person should present the study.

Early careers and young international scholars (up to 50 people): 120 USD

Participants without academic contribution: 100 USD

Postgraduate national students (attendees or speakers): 50 USD
